TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Police Department says a person has been arrested in connection with a laser strike on a police aircraft on a patrol flight.
Police say the TPD Air Support crew quickly identified the location of the laser strike which allowed them to direct patrol officers on the ground to the home.
A man was arrested and booked into jail for two counts of aiming a laser at an aircraft, one count for each crew member, which is a class three felony.
The TPD says not only are there criminal consequences for this behavior, but there are potential civil penalties as well.
The Federal Aviation Administration can issue fines of up to $32,000.
