A Prescott man is in the Yavapai County jail after police say he told 911 dispatchers that he killed his roommate, whom he thought was a pedophile.

Officers responded to a home near Whipple Street and Miller Valley Road shortly after midnight on Wednesday. At the scene, officers found 34-year-old Adam Tucker and detained him.

Officers also found a 73-year-old man lying on the floor of the apartment. Crews conducted CPR, but he died at the scene.

Police say Tucker had asked the victim if he was sexually attracted to children after he was “acting weird” about lending his phone to another roommate.

Tucker said that his roommate had admitted to being attracted to children, so he later went into the victim’s room and put him in a chokehold, according to authorities. Investigators say Tucker admitted to choking him for several minutes until he knew he was dead before calling 911.

Tucker is now facing a first-degree murder charge. A booking photo wasn’t released.
