A deadly mistake was made Sunday night when a driver turned on a red arrow and hit a motorcyclist in north Phoenix, police said.

Investigators said Kendra Lenae Harrison, 25, was riding south on 27th Avenue when a driver turning left onto Yorkshire Drive, south of the Loop 101 freeway, hit her just before 9 p.m.

She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

According to police, the driver saw the light turn green and thought it was a green turn arrow, but the arrow was still red.

The driver stayed at the scene and was not impaired, police said. The driver’s name has not been released.

Police said charging recommendations will be made once the crash reconstruction is completed.
