Three people are dead after a serious crash near Wickenburg Saturday morning.

At about 11:15 a.m., first responders were dispatched to a crash on US Highway 93 near State Route 93 on a report of a serious crash.

Responding crews found two heavily damaged vehicles and multiple injured people.

One person was air evacuated, and two were transported by ambulance to a trauma center, according to Williamson Valley-Bagdad Fire and Rescue. Three people involved died.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Wickenburg Police Department are currently on the scene.

Bystanders told Yavapai County Fire Consortium that the Acura was heading northbound and tried to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone. As they merged into ongoing traffic in an attempt to pass the other car, that’s when the crash with the Mercedes happened.

Rudy Armenta with Yavapai County Fire Consortium said that three passengers in the back of the car, which was split in half, were ejected and thrown about 150 to 200 feet from the vehicle onto the highway.
